In the Beginning... ( Through the Bible Sermon series )

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Our church is starting a new sermon series in which our Pastors will preach through the Bible in a year. This was our first Sunday in the series. I took notes as usual and would like to share them here with you.
----------------------------------------------------------

The Bible is an important book. It explains what God is like. God loves his creations ad hates thing that harm his creation.
The Bible teaches us to put the needs of others above our own.
As we read our Bibles, God reveals to us what we need to hear n that particular season of life. His Holy spirit guides us.
The Word of God is alive and will speak to us.
Ask God to show you how to live with the unknowns in your life. Our trust is in God. There is no other One who can really help us.
The four topics for today are:
* Creation
* The Appearing of Evil
* Evil is Prevalent
* Noah

The Creation
Moses wrote Genesis - the Holy Spirit inspired him to write the creation account.
There is only one true God and He does care about all that He created.
Humans are created in the image of God - we are created for relationship with God and with others.
God created the universe.
Science is not a threat to our faith.

The Appearing of Evil
Eve did not believe that God is trustworthy
Adam and Eve were instructed to take care of creation but to not eat of the tree of good and evil.
The serpent came, lied to Eve and she chose to eat the forbidden fruit.
We have authority to choose God or to choose evil.
After eating the forbidden fruit, Eve and all women must endure pain in childbearing and a strained relationship to her husband. The man must endure hardships in the workplace - thorns and thistles

Evil is Prevalent
Sin is crouching at your door, you must master it. Each day we are faced with choices, to choose to obey God or will we choose to sin
We must learn to master our own desire to live our own way.

Noah
It seems that God regrets his plan of creation. His creations are not following His plans.
Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

God promised to never again flood the whole world. God extends His mercy though His creation is resistant to His ways. In His mercy and grace God continues on with His plan.

Ephesians 1:9-10 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
