A Surprise Party for me 2 months early - That basically says it all! You see, this year when my birthday rolls around I will be 50. So on the weekend while at our Thanksgiving family get-together my Mom and sisters ( I have five sisters) caught me by surprise. I knew that with my 50th birthday coming up in December, they wouldn't forget but I just wasn't expecting it yet. After all we had just celebrated my other sister's 60th just last month.
It seemed like any ordinary family gathering we would have - lots of visiting and laughing and enjoying seeing everyone again. We were all sitting at the supper just finishing the main course of our Thanksgiving turkey dinner, when one of my sisters brings out a cake and everyone starts singing Happy Birthday! My first thought was I had missed something, maybe forgot someone's birthday and I didn't instantly even know it was for me. I don't have a picture of the cake yet but when I get one I will post it. So after blowing out my candles and enjoying the delicious birthday cake my sister had made, came the gifts. What they had done was get a huge box and fill it with 50 gifts - many of the gifts were meant to rub it in a little bit that I am "getting old" while some of them were childhood memory type gifts. It was fun - opening every gift and trying to guess who had picked it for me. Here is a picture of the gift box. One of my sisters had decorated it to represent our red Venture van we used to drive.

This next picture is where I have opened all my gifts. I will do another post on the gifts as some of them came with notes and were pretty fun to open!
